Take on responsibility in acute medicine
Physician Assistants support the treatment of acutely ill patients in all medical specialities. They are integrated into the medical treatment team and take on tasks assigned to them (delegation) as part of the competences acquired during their studies. Physician Assistants are employed at the German Heart Centre of the Charité, for example in the cardiac surgery operating theatre, in the intensive care unit and in other inpatient areas.
During your studies at the DHZB Academy, you will get to know the entire spectrum of modern medicine for all age groups – and can complete your practical assignments at one of the best heart centres in the world. The dual study program B.Sc. Physician Assistance will be offered in cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences in the summer semester of 2024.
Physician assistants are highly trained medical professionals who can be deployed in many specialisms. The term “Physician Assistance” therefore covers a wide range of competences. This is why, in addition to the medical modules, we place great emphasis on developing and expanding clinical and interpersonal skills as part of the degree program.
Based on this claim, we also ensure the following:
- A high degree of practical training with clinical mentors
- Availability of simulation training at the DHZB Academy
- Learning in small groups and therefore plenty of room for dialogue
- Close and personal contact with the lecturers and the DHZB Academy team
The DHZB has been involved in the development of the B.Sc. Physician Assistance program since 2005 and introduced it in cooperation with Steinbeis University in 2009. The DHZB was thus a pioneer in the training of the new job profile. Physician Assistants have been involved in patient care at the German Heart Centre of the Charité since this time. The treatment team at Charité’s German Heart Centre and the DHZB Academy are also continuously researching the further development of treatment concepts, participating in numerous multi-centre studies and regularly attending specialist conferences. The medical expertise of our lecturers is accordingly very high – and is passed on to the graduates from the heart and out of conviction.
The new dual study program B.Sc. Physician Assistance, which will start in cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences in the summer semester of 2024, has been officially approved. The degree program will comprise a workload of 180 ECTS.
